The kitchen is the heart of every house, and buyers like to see a nice, open-plan style area.. Decluttering the benchtops is the first step to provide a more spacious kitchen. For storage and organisation you can add a few canisters from Kmart, plastic or glass containers / jars to keep your dry foods in order. You will be surprised at the difference it makes! Another cool trick is hanging up fry pans and kitchen utensils as a feature wall if you don’t have space in your cupboards.
Often the laundry is overlooked by the homeowners. I would suggest to keep the laundry baskets with all the clothes (dirty or clean) stored in the cupboard so it’s not visually disturbing. Ironing board and iron are usually found in the laundry, however I would put them away as a good habit to keep laundry free flowing of extra space.
Weeding the lawn is the first step to cleaning up your garden and will make a big difference. If you don’t fancy the idea, perhaps get a gardener to service your lawn regularly. I also recommend placing some pots around your garden to create a welcoming ambience that makes your home feel warm and friendly.
Get a few cushions and throws from your linen cupboard, or grab a few accessories from Kmart / Adairs / Homeware stores to dress up your couches. Add a wall hanging that’s consistent with your wall colour to add value in your living areas and make it feel fresh. If you’re showing someone a house I also recommend putting remote controls away: making your home look neat and tidy is a good habit to get into!
If you have children, ask them to put their toys away in the toy basket with a small reward. Vacuum the floors so it is clean and welcoming, and clean the curtains / blinds so they don’t look tired or full of dust. Don’t forget to check the ceiling fans which can collect a lot of dust – give them a good wipe down and it will make them look new again!
